Finance Officer

About the role

As the Finance Officer, you will be working in a team environment supporting the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to deliver finance and payroll services on behalf of Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation (LNAC).

Option to salary package a maximum of $15,899 from your gross salary each year; 5 weeks pro rata annual leave per year; and a  21-hour week (with reasonable additional hours when required). Key responsibilities

Oversee the Accounts Payable function and support the Accounts Payable Officer including liaising with suppliers and creditors, preparation & reconciliation of weekly creditors payruns and the timely payment of suppliers via EFT. 

  • Assist the Payroll Administrator to prepare and process employee payroll including entering hours worked and calculating employee salaries, deductions, and contributions, as well as managing the salary sacrifice system.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Provide support to the Senior Finance Officer to ensure Aged Care invoicing is completed in a timely manner.
  • Manage the Suppliers Register and ensure the finance system (MYOB) is accurate and up to date
  • Support the Assets Coordinator to ensure the Asset & Fleet Registers are up to date
  • Participate in financial audits
  • Prepare month end finance reports and reconciliations in accordance with LNAC Finance policies and procedures.
  • Assist the CFO and Senior Finance Officer when required.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Tertiary qualifications in a finance related field.
  • High level competency in the use of office automation software, spreadsheets, databases and integrated accounting packages, particularly MYOB.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation.
  • High level organisational skills and proven ability to prioritise workload and complete a number of tasks concurrently without compromising standards of service and quality
  • High level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with a wide cross-section of people.
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated ability in the application of financial management principles and practices.
  • Ability to work in a team
  • A valid Working with Children (OCHRE) Card, Current NT Driver’s Licence (C Class minimum), Current Police check

It would be considered an advantage if applicants also possess:

  • Identify as Indigenous
  • Experience working with Indigenous people in the community
